Yame Tea
It is a Japanese tea brand produced in the Yame region of Fukuoka Prefecture.
It features a savory and rich taste similar to dashi, with a mellow flavor and refreshing aroma.
Due to the inland climate with high daytime temperatures and cool nights, and the annual precipitation being similar to that near Lingyan Temple in Suzhou, China, it is said to be well-suited for cultivating high-quality tea.
Our Pride
Yuge Seicha is a tea-specialized farm founded in 1946, currently run by the third generation of the family.
Since 1985, they have been committed to reduced pesticide and chemical fertilizer cultivation. The knowledge and techniques gained from this process have been shared with the local community rather than kept exclusive.
As a result, the current cultivation methods in the Yame region have adopted the reduced pesticide and chemical fertilizer practices that Yuge Seicha has pioneered.
They take great pride in this achievement.
Yuge Seicha’s Commiment
Yuge Seicha is dedicated to selling only the tea leaves made from the first new shoots of the year, known as “Ichiban-cha.” This is a key part of their commitment.
Their tea is processed using a method called “fukamushi sencha,” or deep-steamed sencha, which involves steaming the leaves for 2 to 3 times longer than usual.
This extended steaming breaks down the tannins responsible for bitterness and astringency, resulting in a deep green color and a rich, mellow flavor.
Yuge Seicha ensures that freshly picked new shoots are promptly transported to their manufacturing facility, where they refine their senses and craftsmanship to produce high-quality deep-steamed sencha with meticulous care.
The tea leaves, carefully cultivated from well-prepared soil, are processed on the same day they are picked, ensuring that customers receive fresh, safe, and high-quality tea.
Yuge Seicha is also committed to preserving and passing on the value of Japanese tea as a traditional food culture to future generations.
